Three things I learned, were that all the reforms like socialism, communism, etc where all invented recently. I always thought that they have been around for centuries upon centuries. Another thing I learned was that the Agricultural Revolution happened prior to the industrial revolution. The third thing I learned is that the Industrial Revolution started in Britian.
Two things I found interesting is that the growth of most citites doubled and some even tripled. The next thing I found interesting is that a lot of parents made there children work in those harsh conditions and long hours.
One question I still have is why didn't the child labor laws kick in earlier than it did?

Connection Across Time - Communism
Communism is basically a more radical form of socialism that abolishes private ownership. Communism is a classless society. In Karl Marx's theory communism is a specific stage of historical development that inevitably emerges from the development of the productive forces that leads to a superabundance of material wealth, allowing for distribution based on need and social relations based on freely-associated individuals Communism exists only in four countries today. North Korea, China, Cuba, and Vietnam.
Socialism
Socialism according to webster is a political theory advocating state ownership of industry. So basically this means that government should plan the economy and no free market-capitalism should be in effect. Back during the time period of the Industrial Revolution socialism came about and other social reformations and economic reformations. Socialism was founded by Charles Fourier and Saint Simon. I feel that Socialism is a terrible reform because there is to much government involved and not enough free-market involved. Every person should have a choice in how their country is. After all, people have lived and died for their country, and they deserve a say in it too.
Ipod Touch
The ipod was invented by the incorporation known as Apple. They currently have four generations of the ipod touch. The first one was invented in September of 2007. The newest ipod touch (ipod touch 4G) came out a couple months ago in September of 2010. The ipod is considered to be one of the greatest current inventions for various reasons. First of all, it is a portable media player and it also can access internet as long as you have wifi available. You can buy new applications right from your own personal ipod and you can also obtain all of your favorite music. This device has changed the world as we know it today. It has made the world smaller and is a form of communication through facetime (or skype) and you can also text for free with it and if you have an iphone you can even make phone calls with it. This invention is an awesome device for thos that decide to use it.
Spinning Jenny
The Industrial Revolution brought forth a invention known as the spinning jenny. It was invented by a intelligant fellow known as James Hargreaves. How this machine helped was that it increased them keep pace with the weaves. This machine is still around today just in different form. This made the making of clothes and curtains and things of that such easier to make.
Steam Engine
The steam engine was first invented in 1705. But then James Watt fixed the problem it had in 1765. He made it go faster and much more effeciently. As time went on Watt joined with Matthew Boulton. Boulton urged Watt to build better engines, not only did Boulton encourage Watt to build better engines, but he also paid him for it to. As time progressed the steam boat and the steam locomotive appeared making travel and transportation much less difficult.

Seed Drill
Jethro Tull was one of the first scientific farmers to practice the use of enclosures. As he examined the way people planted their seeds he realized that scattering the seeds across the ground was wasteful and he decided to invent a machine known as the seed drill. The seed drill is a sowing device that precisely positions seeds in the soil and then covers them. This helped farmers tremendously and it saved on time and money. The seed drill is just one of the many great inventions during this time period. It is still used today and still helps farmers just as much as it did during the industrial revolution.
